Nanjie Village is billed as China's last bastion of communism. Relatively unknown to the outside world, it has become a site of cultural pilgrimage within China. The vast majority of the towns 3000+ inhabitants work for the village in return for free housing, food and education etc. In recent years its Utopian appearance has been tarnished by allegations of bankruptcy and corruption
